Ideal for studio applications where robust high-definition is the ultimate goal, Sony's HDW-500 HDCAM Studio VTR will accept both 1920 x 1080 and 1920 x 1035 video standards. The VTR will operate in record and/or playback at either 59.94 Hz or 60 Hz field rates, and can be synchronized with the 525-line black burst signal (59.94 Hz). It features 4 channels of AES/EBU digital audio. The unit's also equipped with dynamic tracking providing broadcast quality playback over the range -1 to +2x Playspeed.

Video and audio pre-read:: Enables the efficient use of VTRs in any production environment; the VTR incorporates this feature as standard through the use of a set of preread (advance) heads.

Switchable inputs:: Features two switchable inputs; the main input is HD-SDI, and the other is a dub (STDI) input; supports HD at both the 59.94 and 60 fields per second, as well as the 525 line standard.
